Here at T W Bowler, transportation is our business. The transportation that our industry uses has gone under little change in the past 50 years. There may have been slight improvements to the vehicles that fulfill the transportation of goods and equipment, but soon things are likely to change and for the better.

With the focus of global industry looking more towards efficiency and the rise of automation throughout all industries it’s important to understand what this is likely to mean for the industry as a whole.
Driverless Vehicles
It may seem futuristic, but driverless vehicles are just around the corner. Autonomous vehicles are already out there, although still not commonplace. Understandably it will take people a bit of time to get used to the idea. Some people are beginning to take advantage of the advancements in technology and transportation is likely to follow suit.
Once perfected, automated vehicles will mean minimal accidents on the road. Plus, with no need for technology to take a break, time constraints are likely to be a less common problem. Though, that’s not to say that there is any certainty that driverless vehicles will be used all the time. There may still be a call for the human touch in specific situations, so there’s no need for any of you drivers to start looking for a new career just yet.
Clean Vehicles
When we talk about clean vehicles, we’re not talking about cleanliness. We hope whatever vehicles you have already been taken care of in that way. We are of course talking about the use of clean energy and technologies.
There is increasing pressure from all sides for every industry to consider the impact that their day-to-day activities have on the environment, with the haulage industry being no different. We’re already well into the age of energy-efficient cars. All of the major car companies have tried their hand at creating hybrid and electric-powered cars.
Though, for larger vehicles, the revolution is just beginning. So, don’t be surprised to see electric-powered lorries traveling on the roads very soon. The real question hanging over using electric lorries is whether they will have enough range between charges to keep up with the timing demands of the industry.
